* Academic processions for all Commencement ceremonies begin approximately 30 minutes before the posted ceremony time. Guests should be seated before the procession begins.
Tickets are only required for the SOH Commencement Ceremony. All other events can be attended on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that the University also offers overflow seating for those individuals that do not receive a ticket.
The number of tickets each graduating student receives from year to year changes. For the 2025 ceremony, all students will receive up to 5 tickets each.
Ticket distribution is done through an online system called Tassel. In late February, all graduating students will receive a direct link from Bryson Daniels-Stevens prompting them to claim their allotted tickets.
Seniors and their families are invited to attend Tropaia, the SOH Awards Ceremony. Students do not wear academic regalia to this event or process into the auditorium. Attire for the Ceremony is business casual. Tickets are not required.
“Tropaia” is the plural of an ancient Greek word that refers to a monument celebrating a military victory. The word in the context of our Tropaia Exercises means “trophies” or “awards.” This is the main SOH awards/recognition ceremony, at which the Deans and Faculty mark the accomplishments of members of the senior class. Faculty select outstanding seniors to receive a variety of SOH awards and recognitions, some big, some small. Additionally, a member of the senior class will be selected by the Faculty to give a Commencement Address to be delivered at Tropaia.
Students who will be recognized at Tropaia will be notified in May.
