Dr. Ted M. Nelson received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2006. Following completion of this degree Dr. Nelson completed Post-doctoral training at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Nelson's research interests have been focused on the genetics of taste perception and how, at a molecular level, taste stimuli interact with the taste system to result in perception and ultimately behavior. Dr. Nelson joined the Human Science Department in 2012 and teaches the Human Biology and Heath Topics in Neuroscience.
