Two School of Health Alumni Receive Fulbright Scholarships

(May 27, 2025) — Two recent graduates from the School of Health have been chosen to be Fulbright Scholars for studies in the 2025-2026 season.

Sahana Arumani (H’25) and Shagun Gandhi (H’25) were informed of their selection just before graduating on May 17, each with a Bachelor of Science degree in human science.

Arumani, who graduated with honors, will conduct her work in Palmerston North, New Zealand. The title of her project is “A One Health Approach to Leptospirosis Prevention in New Zealand.”

Gandhi’s work will take place at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India, where she’ll investigate head and neck cancer survivorship.

Both students were mentored by Ilona Argirion, PhD, MPH, assistant professor; Jan LaRocque, PhD, associate professor; and Alex Theos, associate professor, in the Department of Human Science.
